Executive Staff
The County’s executive leadership team works to carry out the decisions, policies, ordinances, and motions set by the Board of County Commissioners.
As the chief administrator for our county government, the County Manager is ultimately responsible for the administration of all departments within Mecklenburg County. It is the responsibility of the County Manager to follow the priorities of the board and execute county government ethically and effectively.
The County Manager's Executive Team assists with the management and administration of key areas within the County government.
Deputy County Managers

Michelle L. Attreed
Michelle L. Attreed is a deputy County manager who provides oversight of Mecklenburg County’s Finance Department. She also provides oversight of the Office of the Tax Collector, Information Technology Services, Human Resources, and the Assessor’s Office.

Dr. Kimm Campbell
Dr. Kimm Campbell provides oversight of the County’s combined Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, which includes the departments of Child, Family, and Adult Services (CFAS), Public Health, Community Resources, and Community Support Services (CSS). She also oversees the new Housing and Community Development Office.

Leslie Johnson
Leslie Johnson is deputy County manager for Sustainable Communities. She is responsible for providing executive oversight of the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency, which includes Code Enforcement, Air Quality, Solid Waste and Recycling, Water and Land Resources, and Geospatial Information Services (GIS). She also provides executive oversight of Park and Recreation, the Office of Economic Development, the Historic Landmarks department, and the County’s upward mobility strategies focused on workforce development.

Derrick Ramos
Derrick Ramos is the deputy County manager/chief of staff. He is responsible for oversight and management of the operations of the County Manager’s Office, including the Board of County Commissioners and legislative affairs and three County departments: Asset and Facility Management, Criminal Justice Services, and the Medical Examiner's Office.
