County Continues to Gather Public Input for Behavioral Health Strategic Plan
Since launching its engagement efforts in November of 2022, Mecklenburg County continues to solicit public input to inform its Behavioral Health Strategic Plan. The purpose of the plan is to improve access, quality, and coordination of the community’s behavioral health services in Mecklenburg County.
The County has collected input from stakeholders by way of interviews, community listening sessions, and presentations with intact groups. To date, public engagement sessions with behavioral health service providers and the broader community have been attended by over 200 stakeholders. An additional 60 stakeholders—including many service providers, advocates, and people with lived experience—have participated in one-on-one interviews.
The County Manager’s Office, in conjunction with the County’s Public Information Department, continues to identify opportunities to hear from community stakeholders. A draft of the Behavioral Health Strategic Plan will be published in spring of 2024 and the community will have another chance to offer feedback during a public comment period before a presentation to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval.
Residents and organizations interested in scheduling a presentation can contact Community Relations Coordinator Kay Tembo at [email protected] or 704-975-5042.
